many people believe so. they may put right in front of you all the evidences they can dig out. they may argue that people are rushing to restaurants instead of cooking at home, listening to pop music but not traditional, wearing in a way people couldn't imagine ten years ago. modern people like the air of freedom, not to be restrained by traditions. they offer this long list, only trying to confirm that this world is full of fashion, competition and temptation and the traditional culture is fading
and will be lost at last.
though we are now living in a world in which undeclared aggression, war, hypocrisy, chicanery, anarchy are part of our daily life. though this is a skeptical age, and our faith has weakened, our confidence in some aspects of the traditional culture should and would never be lost.
wouldn't you agree that our traditional culture is always credited with modesty, politeness and respectfulness, which have always been treasured for more than five thousand years?even in this modern world, people still admire those with good manners, those who are polite to others or respectful to old people.
everyone has a dream. now i'll talk about my dream i what is my dream? i often ask myself. when i was a little boy, i wanted to be a soldier with a gun so that i could defend our motherland.
now i am a young boy with a new dream——to be a doctor. i want to be a famous doctor, helping the sick and saving their lives. why has my dream changed? well, at the age of 11 i was ill, badly ill. i was told that i had cancer. i had to leave both my school and my friends and go to the hospital. every day i suf-fered the troubles caused by this illness.
i also saw some people who were suffering and dying of ill-nesses. i made up my mind to become a doctor, so that i can help the sick people and cure them of their diseases. china is a develop-ing country. she needs good medicine and good doctors, especially in the countryside and lonely villages.
i want to try my best to help the poor sick people of our country. i want to let them have an opportunity to receive excel-lent treatments for their illnesses without having to pay much or any money.
i'll do every bit to cure the incurable. i hope to see a world where there is no cancer, no aids, no fatal diseases. i'm confident that through the joint efforts of you and me, man will put an end to his bodily sufferings and this dream of mine will one day be brought into reality.
i have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
wow, what a dream it has been for martin luther king. but the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes i personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.
however, we meed dreams. they nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. they keep us going. most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. when we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. however, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.
hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. so my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.

it seems we are living in the conflict between modern and traditional cultures every day. hearing the blaring of horns the moment you step out of your house, seeing the so called "pop" the moment you open your eyes, you can't help thinking, "will the traditional culture be gradually lost?"
many people believe so. they may put right in front of you all the evidences they can dig out. they may argue that people are rushing to restaurants instead of cooking at home, listening to pop music but not traditional, wearing in a way people couldn't imagine ten years ago. modern people like the air of freedom, not to be restrained by traditions. they offer this long list, only trying to confirm that this world is full of fashion, competition and temptation and the traditional culture is fading and will be lost at last.
though we are now living in a world in which undeclared aggression, war, hypocrisy, chicanery, anarchy are part of our daily life. though this is a skeptical age, and our faith has weakened, our confidence in some aspects of the traditional culture should and would never be lost.
wouldn't you agree that our traditional culture is always credited with modesty, politeness and respectfulness, which have always been treasured for more than five thousand years?even in this modern world, people still admire those with good manners, those who are polite to others or respectful to old people.
wouldn't you agree that our chinese traditional music is beautiful and artistic and our chinese tea culture is always an appealing treasure to people around the world?
so there may just be some changes in our lifestyle or our attitudes towards life, but little change occurs to some fundamental aspects of our traditional culture that people still treasure in heart.
the traditional culture will never be lost, i believe.
sometimes, what makes us relaxed and leaves us with a lighter feeling is enjoying the freedom of dreaming about good things. we can freely think of things that would do our lives more good than harm. we hope these things will happen in our lives some day.
dreaming is free. each of us has our own dreams. also, duanwenw.com the way we deal with things in our dreams shows us who we can really be in real life. we tend to act based on what kinds of dreams we have, but we also have the freedom to make those dreams come true.
to me, a dream is a picture of the place where we want to find ourselves some day. a dream is like a design of how we want things to look by the time we get there.
dreaming keeps us in motion; it keeps us going.

my view of culture globalization
as is known to all, kung fu panda 2 was shown recently and soon became a hot topic in china. surprisingly, this american film shows bright chinese images such as kungfu and panda. this is a good example of culture globalization. but there are two entirely different attitudes towards it. some people think it demonstrates the increasing influence of chinese culture. others, however, incline to take the opposite point of view and regard it as an invasion of native culture resources. as for me, i tend to take an open attitude towards culture globalization. we can promote our own culture and meanwhile learn form other cultures, which is beneficial to all countries. finally, it is important to note that each culture has its own characteristics. with the evolving trend of culture globalization, we should be responsible for the development and spread of our national culture tradition.
