a serious problem has arisen in recent several years that more and more college students abandon study because of their taking part-time jobs, so quite a few people are opposed to part-time jobs. however, taking part-time jobs has at least three benefits for college studens in my eyes.

first, students can promote their study through part-time jobs. for instance, if a law student finds a part-time job in a law firm, his practice will enable him to better understand what hes learned from books. whats more, the part-time job can offer him opportunities to go beyond what hes been taught in class, and hell learn something that doesnt exist in books but in practice.

second, students can also accumulate work experiences through part-time jobs, which will benefit their future job-hunting. actually, part-time jobs act as warm-up exercises for students to take full-time jobs after they graduate, and help them prepare for their future careers. in addition, as fresh blood in the society, graduated students are often unfavored in job-hunting markets for lack of practical work experiences. its easier to find jobs for those who have accumulated experiences in part-time jobs.

last but not the least, part-time jobs can partly relieve students financial burden, especially those who are from poor families. college tution fees have greatly increased in the past ten years due to the new educational policy. many students from poor families cannot afford college fees, and our bank system fail to loan college students as effectively as it does in developed countries, so taking part-time jobs becomes a way for them to meet their great expenses in campus lives.its an undenied fact that students break the balance between their jobs and studies, especially when they fall into conflict with each other. but i think students should spend their spare time taking part-time jobs. only following this principle can they benefit from their part-time jobs.

good afternoon dear teachers and my fellow classmates, i really appreciate having this opportunity to introduce myself. i’m from …… school of classxxx. i’ve been paying attention to the outlook english for many years and i am very interested in it for me, learning english is considered an enjoyment. at first, i have not participated in any oral competition before and i hesitated. i thought it was a hard thing to do in the past but i now believed that i should have a try. my teachers and friends have also given me the courage and i’ve become more confident through the process and that’s why i’m standing here. everybody should have the courage to catch the chance and hold on to the given opportunity. if we didn’t try , how can we be near our goals? i believe we can all achieve our goals if we continue to take a step forward.

just like when i’m learning english, the courage of facing the difficulties and my goal motivated me to move forward. just as the old saying goes, “the one who you must defeat is you yourself”, not only did i attained experiences and confidence throughout the process, i am also willing to learn that in order to improve, i had to defeat myself.

finally, i wish to thank all of my teachers and friends who gave me the chance here to participate in this activity, and i am really grateful and that i will strive for the better. thank you for your kind attention and have a nice afternoon.

make every moment count

one night, i complained to my mom about the lack of time. finally she said,"you are short of time just because you waste precious minutes on complaints and anxiety. the point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard, you can always fit in some thing more."

it is the same with filling the jar. even if you place a dozen fist-sized rocks and a bucket of gravel into the jar, there is still space for sand and water between the rocks and gravel.

the lack of time is just the excuse for my negligence of every single minute. i believe that the great dividing line between success and failure can be expressed in six words,"i did not have enough time."the fact is i do have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to helen keller, pasteur, thomas jefferson, and albert einstein. the point is i have never touched upon the real meaning of life which lies in snatching, seizing and enjoying every minute of it. no idleness, no delay, no procrastination, no complaint! it is during my moments of complaining or hesitation that my destiny is shaped. once i make full use of every moment, i believe that, my worries will be gradually cut down to nothing.

time is the most valuable of all our possessions, but the most perishable as well. as henry david thoreau said,"you must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment."

whenever i fell the lack of time in the future, i will tell myself "carpe diem , seize the day, make every moment count."

we are the world ,we are the future

someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. i don’t know who wrote these words, but i’ve always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. we are all in the position of the farmers. if we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. if we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

we are young. “how to spend the youth?” it is a meaningful question. to answer it, first i have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. it’s not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. it’s the matter of the will. it’s the freshness of the deep spring of life.

a poet said “to see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. several days ago, i had a chance to listen to a lecture. i learnt a lot there. i’d like to share it with all of you. let’s show our right palms. we can see three lines that show how our love.career and life is. i have a short line of life. what about yours? i wondered whether we could see our future in this way. well, let’s make a fist. where is our future? where is our love, career, and life? tell me.yeah, it is in our hands. it is held in ourselves.

we all want the future to be better than the past. but the future can go better itself. don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened. from the past, we’ve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher. we’ve learnt that we can’t choose how we feel, but we can choose what about it. failure doesn’t mean you don’t have it, it does mean you should do it in a different way. failure doesn’t mean you should give up, it does mean you must try harder.

as what i said at the beginning, “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. the past has gone. nothing we do will change it. but the future is in front of us. believe that what we give to the world, the world will give to us. and from today on, let’s be the owners of ourselves, and speak out “we are the world, we are the future.”
