student council was a big part of my life in high school. i have participated in it since my frst year of high school. when i frst joined， i was quiet， na?ve， and unwilling to participate in many activities. i was scared to meet new people and afraid to apply myself. this all began to change. half way through my frst year in student council， one of the advisors can up to me and asked why i did not participate that much. i did not have an answer for her and did not know how to respond. after this， i began to think of an answer. i became frustrated and decided to change. i started to show up at events and had a great time. i realized i loved this and wanted to start leading these activities. in my sophomore， junior， and now my senior year of high school， i asserted myself and took on a strong leadership role in student council. i did not fgure out the answer to why i was so reserved until this year with the help of this question.
when i looked up leadership in the dictionary， it said that it was the capacity to lead and the act or instance of leading. these are two very broad defnitions of leadership. many people have different notions of what this word actually means. when i was challenged to use different items to describe what leadership actually is， i thought this was going to be a hard and obnoxious task. what could i learn from comparing leadership to a stuffed animal or a rubber chicken? but when i sat down to come up with a couple of answers， i realized that leadership could be compared to almost anything a person wants.
all i know about leadership i learned from a calculator. a calculator can add everything together to come up with the best answer. it can delet e what is unnecessary and only include what is important. it can solve any type of problem. these are all important equalities a leader has to have. a leader has to be able to add all of the ideas together to make the best possible plan. leaders have to know how to decipher the good and the bad out of an idea. they have to be versatile and know how to deal with different types of issues.
all i know about leadership i learned from a ball. a ball is able to bounce back up after it is dropped. it is round and has no creases. a ball can be thrown back and forth to different people. all of these qualities are also leadership qualities. a leader has to be ready for every situation that is thrown at him or her. he or she has to be able to bounce back from any setbacks and never dwell on the past. leaders have to exhibit many qualities and never be closed-minded about a situation. a leader must be able to delegate when he or she cannot get the work done. they have to trust everyone they lead to be able to "catch the ball" and keep a project rolling.
this activity made me realize that being a leader is so much more than just having authority and having the ability to take control of a situation. a leader has to be trusting of all the people he or she leads and， leaders must be able to combine ideas into one encompassing idea. they cannot sit in the background and watch events happen； they have to jump in and be involved. they should not delegate all their responsibilities away.
leadership is more than what the dictionary says it is.
i learned through all of this that i have many of these qualities.

美国留学材料
1、sat/act考试成绩（申请本科需要）
如果你在美国读高中，sat是一定要考的；如果你在国内读高中，申请美国本科时，排名前60位的大学基本都对此有要求。所以，对于绝大多数申请美国留学的学生来说，这一考试都是绕不开的。
绝大多数美国大学，递交sat成绩或act成绩都是可以的，但从名校申请的统计数据表明，提交sat的申请者几乎是act的两倍，更多人还是选择sat。
sat考试分为sat1和sat2，sat1俗称美国高考，是一个考察学生学习能力的考试。sat2是学科的测试，其实就是专业课考试，给大学呈现学生在专门领域水平。sat2大部分学校是不需提交的。国内学生主要考sat1，是否需要考sat2取决于申请学校的要求。
sat和act都有多次考试机会，大家一定要尽力给自己一个好成绩哦。
成绩单直接通过官方的机构寄送即可。
2、gre/gmat考试成绩（申请研究生需要）
gre的中文名称是美国研究生入学考试，适用于除法律与商业外的各专业。gmat的中文名称是研究生管理科学入学考试，适用于商科学生。你具体要参加什么考试、需要考多少分，由你要申请的学校和专业决定。
3、英语考试成绩
根据学校要求，你需要考托福或雅思，绝大多数申请美国学校的学生都是考托福。成绩单直接通过官方的机构寄送即可。
4、成绩单
申请美国本科，需要递交9~12年级的成绩单，也就是初三到高三（申请时未毕业的同学不必打印高三的），别落了初三！申请美国研究生，需要递交大一到大四的成绩单（未毕业同学不必打印大四的）。
学校如果有自己的模版，用学校的模版即可，如果学校没有模版，就用学校抬头纸打印成绩单，落款盖公章，封入学校官方信封，两边封口处加盖学校公章。
成绩单需要译成英文，可以分开两页纸，也可以中英对照。
成绩单的数量最好比申请的学校数量多3~5份，以备不时之需。
成绩单上最好将自己的百分成绩换算成gpa，并显示自己在班级所排名次。
美国有的学校要求成绩单从学校寄出，大家要注意申请学校是否有要求。如果没有，把成绩单和其它材料一并寄出即可。
留学申请写作内容
1、评价你的一个重要经历﹑成就﹑风险决定﹑或者你曾面对的两难选择的经历，并评价对你造成的影响。
2、讨论某个个人的﹑地区性的﹑国家性的﹑或国际性的关注话题以及对你的重要性。
3、说明一个对你有重要影响的人并描述对你的影响。
4、描述一个影响你的人并说明对你的影响，该人物可以是小说中的﹑历史中的﹑或者某创新性作品（比如在艺术﹑音乐﹑科学等方面）中的。
5、（可以叙述）一系列诸如学术兴趣﹑个人前途﹑生活经历等能够显著增添教育多样性的事情。结合你个人的背景，描述一个可以说明你将会给大学社区的多元化带来何种贡献的经历，或者一个表明多元化对你有重要意义的经历。
6、（如果以上题目没有合适的题材）请自行选择一个题目。
此外，common学校除了以上文书要求外，还会有supplement文书内容，例如斯坦福大学在13年申请补充文书部分要求三篇，每篇小文章至少250字，不超过提供的空间。

有的时候就会迸发些智慧的火花。一次，我的一个好朋友生病请假没来上学，我去探望她。她跟我讲做胃镜的恶心、痛苦，那么长一根管子就插下去了，听得我毛骨悚然。我就说要是能像吞药片似的吞个针眼摄像机该多好，只是不知道该怎么解决摄像头冲哪的问题。没过多少日子，我看discovery的时候就发现以色列有家医院就发明了装射像的胶囊用以做肠道检查——跟我有异曲同工之妙!
我出生在新疆——亚欧大陆的中心。那里是工农业文明都不太发达的地方，但自然风光很是俊美。北边有如瑞士的雪山湖泊森林，目力所及空无一物的草原，南边是广袤的沙漠和点缀其间的郁郁葱葱生机勃勃的绿洲。小学是在北京上的，一所私立小学(北京的第一所)。由于是私人办学，自主性更大一些，我们的校长就决定不让我们向其他那些公立小学的学生那样只是注重语文数学，他给我们装备了在小学生看来是非常先进的科学仪器和各类体育设施，我们自主选择好老师教。使得我有幸在小学三年级的时候就能经常使用显微镜，随时看我从校园各处找到的材料——桃树的叶子、无名的小花、枯草的根。把各式各样的材料制成临时装片是我当时最大的欢乐——比糖果还诱惑人。四年级的时候我协助老师做了个白兔的标本，直到我离校的那年都放在校长室的陈列柜里呢。中学是在北京师范大学附属实验中学，是市重点，北京市排2、3位，就在国家教育部的后面。我们的老师很有水平，讲的课都旁征博引、十分有趣。在那我汲取了各科知识：地理、历史、政治、物理、化学……成绩都很不错，尤其是地理和生物，从初一到高三凡是这两科考试，我都没下过92分。但我还是对生物最感兴趣。我参加了生物实验选修课，在那我做了比教学大纲多很多的实验：dna粗提取、解剖青蛙、鉴定叶绿素……我在高二的时候自学的中国大学生物系一年级要学的普通生物学，参加全国中学生生物竞赛得二等奖，是北京市的前30——北京一共有将近十万人报名。
最令我激动，也是最难以忘怀的是那段在德国的日子。2005年8月30号到9月18日，受德国巴登符腾堡州政府邀请，我和其他11名同学代表中国学生和当地最优秀的60名学生 一起参加science academy。在那里，我是制药组的，和trixi、filix等十名德国同学一组，还有我的中国同学。开始去那我还有些不知所措，因为在中国没有制药这个学科，相比去science academy 的上物理、化学、计算机等的中国同学，我对我在日后半个月里要干的事可算得上是真正的一无所知。第一堂课，老师和同学们做了自我介绍后什么都没说就带着我们拿着修剪树叉的大剪出门去了。大家都莫名其妙，疑惑地相互望着——就像在中国时我和我同学间那样，让我感觉没有身处异国，于是我走上前去，问了老师一个——老师，咱去花园里剪药去么?老师微笑地看了我一下说很好，我这就给你们讲这是要做什么。结果是我们用树皮做出了阿司匹林的栓剂和胶囊。我们上课的时候用英语讲，课堂气氛很是活跃。课后，我们一起打网球，一起游泳，一起躺在草坪上晒太阳，述说自己国家的趣事…… science academy结束的那天，我们紧紧地拥抱在一起，是真的不想分开。
我喜爱并擅长生物，绝对不是牵强附会。我喜欢上生物课，看生物方面的书，是因为每次只要是和生物有关的知识，我真的能看一遍就记在心里——有时候甚至是无意识的。生物课上老师讲的哪怕再小的知识点，我都跟黑洞似的吸了进去，例如……。可能是因为每次我都有似曾相识的感觉，并且很多都能立刻在脑海里形成一个图像：看着老师在台上比画，我眼前就出现了蛋白质的组织结构……也因为这样虽然没有怎么为了考试去复习但基本上每次生物考试我都是我们班的第一名。考试成绩并不能说明什么。我喜欢生物是喜欢在学习它时的那种享受的感觉。课后的生物选修课我都很早到，最后离开，就觉得如果一生都如此度过都不曾遗憾，但那两个半小时还是觉得一晃就过去了比大课间的半小时还短。有的时候在实验室里看完生物回家日已西斜，心里充满了满足和成就感。
现在无论是从诸如电视、杂志、网络等媒体上接受到的，还是自己亲身体验到的，都显示出了现在生态环境问题的恶化的现实，叫人不能不担心。中国中西部干化、沙化现象明显;北京市郊一些原先是草木繁茂、流水淙淙的荒地在一夜之间就被填平盖上了四四方方的火柴盒，然后是北京几乎都不下雪的冬天;我家小区物业为了美化环境弄出的小河很快就成了臭水沟。以上这些看起来似乎是工业化或别的团体个人的行为，与己无关，也没那个能力权利去管。但这理由却不能使我心安，因为在日常生活中，我们的很多行为都对生态的可持续发展够成危险。例如我们每天沐浴时用的洗发液如果不经过非常严格的处理就会对水系统造成威胁。于是我相当认真地注意收集解决此类问题的方法，结果出乎意料的发现传统的习俗更能解决问题，例如傣族人就用发酵了的淘米水洗头发，这绝对环保而且因为用这个很多傣族人到老都是一头黑发;中国的古老中医用草药银针只治病，好像没有什么抗生素的问题。我有点不明白，似乎传统的生活方式跟自然更为友好，那么我们的生物科学又有什么别的特殊的作用么?所以我想到美国这个科学更为发达，科学更接近科学的地方学习，弄清楚它，试着用它来解决一些恶性循环的问题，维护一个和谐的生存环境，或者用科学解释、沟通类似中医这样的传统方式与现代科学。
个人陈述开头一定要强调自己的亮点，写些老外有概念的东西;如果你的学业真的非常优秀，可以用一句话带过;然后写自己的申请目的和动机，你也可以为了迎合老外的想法而写自己的申请事项，但是一定要结合实际情况;千万不能抄袭别人的个人陈述。
二、儿童时代 家庭环境
申请者可根据自己的家庭、父母以及自身独特的地方来写，突出别人没有的方面;如果自己的儿童时代没有独特的地方，你可以换种角度来写，或许就变成了一种优势，比如儿童时代喜欢折纸、制作模型等，这些就可以突出你的天赋和创造能力;或者自己的家庭特殊，也可以彰显你的独立和自主能力。
三、学校学习
